Driving directions to casa bongo
Directions from La Paz Airport (LAP)
- Exit the airport and turn right onto Hwy 1 towards La Paz.
- At the large whale tail monument, turn right onto Blvd Las Garzas (also called Blvd Agustin Olachea).
- At the second stoplight, turn right onto Blvd Luis D. Colosio.
- Continue straight as this road turns into Hwy 286 to Los Planes.
- Pass the Pepsi and Coke bottling plants and go straight through the large four-way stop intersection.
- Drive toward the Sierra de Laguna mountains, which lead down to the Los Planes valley. Here, you will get your first view of the beautiful La Ventana Bay.
- In about 30 minutes, turn left onto the paved road marked EL SARGENTO and LA VENTANA (you’ll see billboards for restaurants and hotels at the corner).
- Drive 7 km to La Ventana, then continue 1.1 km to El Sargento, where the paved road ends and turns into a dirt road.
- The dirt road makes a quick left and then a quick right, running parallel to the sea on your right.
- Drive about 5 minutes until you reach a dirt road with a sign that reads "Agua Caliente", turn left.
- Drive one minute up the hill and you'll see Casa Bongo on your left
Pro Tip: Watch out for the cows! Use your emergency flashers when passing them
Directions from San Jose del Cabo Airport (SJD)
- Exit the airport and follow signs for La Paz, heading north on Highway 1.
- Pass through the towns of Los Barriles (45 minutes/66 km) and San Bartolo.
- Shortly after San Bartolo, ignore the sign for San Antonio on the left and continue straight into the town.
- When you see the San Antonio town sign, look for the Pemex station on the left.
- About 200 yards after the Pemex, turn right at the sign for Los Planes (45 minutes/46 km from Los Barriles).
- Take the 86 km newly paved road to Los Planes until it dead ends, then turn left.
- The first right leads to El Sargento—turn right and follow the same directions as from La Paz.
If traveling through La Paz, follow signs to Highway 286 Los Planes.
- In about 30 minutes, turn left onto the paved road marked EL SARGENTO and LA VENTANA (look for restaurant and hotel billboards at the corner).
- Continue 7 km to La Ventana, then 1.1 km to El Sargento, where the paved road ends.
- The dirt road will take a quick left and then a quick right, running parallel to the sea on your right.
- Drive about 5 minutes until you reach a dirt road with a sign that reads "Agua Caliente", turn left.
- Drive one minute up the hill and you'll see Casa Bongo on your left
